From Islamabad:
- Drive to Mingora → Fizagat → Bahrain → Kalam
- Travel time: Around 8–10 hours (longer in snow)
- 4×4 is recommended — roads can be slippery past Bahrain
If snow is too heavy, you might need to hire a local jeep to take you up from Bahrain.

Many hotels close in deep winter, but a few stay open:
- Hotel Walnut Heights (has heating)
- Gleaming Pine Kalam (modern + great views)
